Cardiac First Response Advanced Course
Course Aim
This one day course is designed for persons working/volunteering in EMS, fire and rescue or healthcare professionals. In addition to basic life support skills (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) you will learn how to manage a patient's airway using devices and oxygen as appropriate.
Course Content
How to make emergency calls.
CPR - airway, rescue breaths, chest compressions, barrier devices
Use of defibrillators
The recovery position
Recognising and dealing with cardiac arrest
Recognising and dealing with heart attack
Aspirin administration
Recognising and dealing with choking
Recognising stroke
The safe airway / recovery position
Airway and ventilation including use of OPA,SGA,BVM and Oxygen administration.
Included items
Each student will receive :
A pocket mask, with case and gloves.
A face shield on a key ring.
A PHECC Advanced CFR manual
Red emergency card
FAST assessment card
CFR report form
Pre-requisites
Entry Criteria:
The recommended minimum age for entry is eighteen. All course participants should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have a maturity to complete assessment to receive certification.
Students must have good written and spoken English.
Who should do it ?
- The CFR Advanced standard is designed for persons working or volunteering in the emergency medical services, fire and rescue services and for healthcare professionals. If there is a concern about maintaining competency in all the required CFR advanced levels skills (in particular airway management and bag-valve-mask) PHECC recommends that such individuals certify in CFR Community. CFR Advanced is not designed for teaching basic life support to citizens.
Course Numbers and Location
This course is limited to maximum one instructor for every 8 students, although the norm is 1 to six. This course can be run anywhere.
Certification
Our Instructors are qualified and current PHECC FAR & A-CFR Instructors.
Certification is jointly issued issued by a Venturesafe and PHECC, valid for 2 Years.
Venturesafe is a fully Approved Training Institution with PHECC.
